Vienna to Budapest

We trained from Vienna to Budapest in the morning. A few minutes after arriving, we knew Budapest had the charm and character we were missing in Vienna.

We checked into our hostel and set out to exploring. I don’t think either of us really had an idea of what Budapest would be. After a few hours Joe described it as a place that would make Brooklyn hipsters jealous. It’s true. The level of coolness in this city set a new bar for the places I’d seen in Europe.

Running from awning to awning to avoid getting soaked on our way to dinner.

The night life in Budapest was impressive. After talking with a few people, it seems like Budapest is the destination of choice for budget-conscious Europeans over other popular destinations like Amsterdam or Paris.

We immediately regretted ordering these hot dogs

Budapest Day Two – City by Bike

We rented bikes for the first time in our travels and put them to good use exploring Pest, the side of the river we were staying on (contrasted with Buda, the city on the other side of the river).

We ended up on the waterfront at sunset, which made for some incredible views of the Parliament building.

Budapest Day Three – Buda

On day three we headed across the river to Buda by bike.

There was a hike up to the top of one of the hills, but the view was worth it.

We found a playground on our way back down and had no choice but to play on it for a half hour.
